Tel Aviv: The Israeli army has announced that Iran has emerged as its primary focus of military operations, surpassing Gaza in strategic importance. This development comes amidst a surge in Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian territory.

According to Anadolu Agency, a report by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz highlighted that Israeli military officials have disclosed the striking of approximately 150 targets within Iran by air force jets in the past 24 hours. This escalation underscores the shift in Israel's military strategy, emphasizing Iran as the main theater of conflict.

The Israeli army has declared that it has established a secure pathway to Iran's capital, Tehran, allowing for unimpeded operations within its airspace. This strategic pivot aims to facilitate the swift return of hostages held in Gaza following the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023. The Israeli authorities estimate that 54 hostages remain in Gaza, with 20 believed to be alive. In contrast, over 10,100 Palestinians are reportedly detained in Israeli prisons under severe conditions, with allegations of torture, starvation, and medical neglect raised by Palestinian and Israeli rights organizations.

In addition to its focus on Iran, Israeli forces have indicated preparations for defensive measures against Hezbollah, although the group is not currently mobilizing for combat. Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and Air Force Commander Tomer Bar have both stated that "the path to Iran is paved," as they announced new airstrikes on Tehran.

Iranian reports claim that Israel's continued attacks into Saturday have resulted in at least 78 fatalities and over 320 injuries, marking the second day of intensified hostilities.
