Ankara: The Israeli army announced that it had successfully intercepted a missile that was launched from Yemen. The incident caused sirens to blare across Jerusalem and nearby areas, including West Bank settlements and towns in central Israel.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yemen's Houthi group claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it launched a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport. This led to a temporary suspension of operations at the airport.

The attacks are part of a series of missile and drone strikes by the Houthis since November 2023. The group has been targeting Israeli sites and commercial shipping routes in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea as a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza. The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in nearly 63,000 casualties due to an extensive Israeli military offensive.

In retaliation, the Israeli army conducted multiple airstrikes on Houthi-controlled sites in Yemen.
