Beirut: On the second day of the cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon, the Israeli army issued a warning to Lebanese civilians, urging them to avoid 10 specific villages in southern Lebanon. The cautionary statement was released on Thursday, emphasizing that civilians should not return to these areas "until further notice," as per the Israeli army's Arabic language spokesman, Avichay Adraee. According to Anadolu Agency, Adraee provided a detailed list of the villages, including Sheba, Hebbariyah, Marjaayoun, Yohmor, and Baraachit, among others. He shared a map on X illustrating the restricted zones and stressed that "anyone who crosses the line puts himself in danger." This warning comes as part of the cease-fire deal meant to halt more than 14 months of conflict between the Israeli army and Hezbollah. The cease-fire agreement, which took effect early Wednesday, outlines that Israel will gradually withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line. Concurrently, the Lebanese army is tasked with deploying its force s in southern Lebanon within a 60-day timeframe. The United States and France have been designated to oversee the implementation of this agreement, although specific enforcement mechanisms remain undefined at this stage. The conflict, which has persisted since October last year, has resulted in the deaths of over 3,800 individuals and the displacement of more than 1 million people, as reported by Lebanese health authorities. The cease-fire aims to bring relief to the affected regions and facilitate a more stable environment moving forward.
