Gaza city: Another Palestinian journalist was killed by Israeli army fire in Gaza, raising the death toll since October 2023 to 239, local authorities reported on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Islam Al-Koumi, a journalist affiliated with multiple media outlets, died late Monday after Israeli fighter jets bombed his residence in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City. The incident highlights the perilous conditions for journalists in the region amidst ongoing hostilities.

Gaza's Government Media Office announced that Al-Koumi's death marks the 239th journalist killed in the conflict since October 2023. The office strongly condemned what it described as "Israel's systematic assassination of Palestinian reporters in Gaza" and urged human rights and media organizations to denounce these actions as systematic crimes against journalists in Gaza.

The ongoing Israeli military operations have resulted in the deaths of over 62,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023, significantly impacting the region, which is now grappling with famine.

Furthermore, in November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in the enclave.
