Israeli Forces Enter Western Daraa Countryside in Syria

Accra:Israeli forces entered the western countryside of Daraa province on Saturday, as reported by the state-run SANA news agency. The incursion involved two military vehicles into the Wadi al-Ruqqad area.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, this movement was accompanied by Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flying over the western section of the Yarmouk Basin. No attacks or arrests were reported during this operation.

On the previous day, Israeli forces had entered an area west of the al-Razaniya farm in the neighboring Quneitra province, where they reportedly fired shots to deter shepherds from grazing before withdrawing. Additionally, Israeli forces surrounded the town of Abidin in the Yarmouk Basin in the western Daraa countryside.

Israel has regularly entered southern Syria since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024, including advancing into the buffer zone established under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement. This agreement set up a UN-monitored zone to separate Syrian and Israeli forces following the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.

The Syrian government has consistently condemned these incursions as violations of the agreement and has demanded Israel's complete withdrawal from Syrian territory.
