Israeli Forces Stage New Incursion into Quneitra, Southern Syria

Quneitra: The Israeli army has advanced into southern Syria's Quneitra province, marking the second such violation in two days. Syria's state-run Alikhbaria TV reported that Israeli forces moved around the village of Saida al-Hanout in rural Quneitra and established a checkpoint separating the village from the nearby Maghatra farm, though further details were not provided.

According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli forces renewed their incursion into the countryside of Quneitra along a road linking Jabatha al-Khashab with the villages of Ain al-Bayda and Ofania. An Israeli unit of two vehicles entered the road connecting these villages, stopped in the area, and searched passing civilians.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that three Israeli military vehicles advanced toward western Saida al-Hanout and set up a checkpoint between the village and the farm. Additionally, an Israeli patrol of five military vehicles moved from the al-Burj point in the city of Quneitra toward the village of Eastern Samdaniyah in the northern countryside, establishing a checkpoint between Eastern Samdaniyah and the nearby village of al-Ajraf.

Israeli incursions in Quneitra have intensified recently, with locals complaining of advances into their farmland, destruction of hundreds of acres of forests, arrests of residents, and the establishment of military checkpoints. The Israeli army has conducted over 1,000 airstrikes on Syria and more than 400 cross-border raids into the southern provinces since December 2024, according to government data.

Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarized buffer zone, violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria.
