Tel Aviv: Israeli fighter jets conducted airstrikes on military infrastructure in southwestern Iran, the Israeli military announced on Friday. The strikes targeted surface-to-air missile batteries in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli army reported that during nocturnal operations, the Israeli Air Force identified three surface-to-surface missile launchers that were poised to fire towards Israel. The launchers were subsequently destroyed, preventing a potential missile barrage that was planned for the early morning hours.

Additionally, a drone identified an Iranian military squad in motion, which included a Revolutionary Guards base commander in western Iran responsible for 15 missile launchers. This squad was reportedly on its way to execute a strike and was attacked and eliminated, the Israeli army statement added.

Hostilities between Israel and Iran escalated on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on several Iranian sites, targeting military and nuclear facilities. These actions prompted Tehran to retaliate with missile strikes. Israeli authorities have reported that the Iranian missile attacks have resulted in at least 25 deaths and hundreds of injuries in Israel.

Conversely, Iranian media reports indicate that the Israeli assault has led to 639 deaths and over 1,300 injuries in Iran.
