Japan and Saudi Arabia Commit to Strengthening Strategic Partnership.

Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have pledged to enhance their countries’ strategic partnership in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. The two leaders held a phone conversation on Tuesday, where they focused on energy markets and regional stability amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, as stated by the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ishiba expressed his expectation for Saudi Arabia, recognized as the world’s largest oil exporter, to maintain its stabilizing influence in global oil markets. He also highlighted the potential for expanded cooperation in emerging sectors. Furthermore, Ishiba commended Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts concerning the situation in Gaza.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who also serves as Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister, demonstrated a strong interest in broadening the partnership with Japan across political, economic, and security domains, emphasizing the s
ignificance his country places on these relations. Both leaders voiced their concerns regarding the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza, and stressed the importance of restraint from all involved parties.

The discussions concluded with an agreement to work closely for the stability of the Middle East region, as noted in the statement.
