Jordan and Bahrain Report Successful Interception of Iranian Missiles Amid Heightened Tensions

Amman: Jordan and Bahrain announced on Tuesday that they successfully intercepted Iranian missiles and other aerial threats, following Iran's attacks on US military facilities, as regional tensions continue to rise. According to Anadolu Agency, Jordan's Armed Forces reported intercepting and shooting down four missiles that entered the kingdom's airspace from Iran early Tuesday. The Jordan News Agency (Petra) cited a military source stating that the interception was executed "with high efficiency," as part of the military's efforts to protect the country's sovereignty and citizens.

The incident reportedly resulted in no casualties or property damage. The source emphasized that any attempts to undermine Jordan's sovereignty or violate its airspace would be met with "utmost firmness." The armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to taking all necessary measures to safeguard the homeland and ensure its security and stability.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later claimed responsibility for targeting a US air base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, stating that the base had been used for attacks against Iran and that the "American criminals" were held accountable.

Meanwhile, Bahrain's Defense Force reported that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several "treacherous Iranian aerial attacks" early Tuesday. The military did not immediately disclose details regarding the nature or number of threats intercepted, nor any information about potential casualties or damage.

In response to the threat, Bahrain's Interior Ministry issued three identical statements at intervals, activating air raid warning sirens and advising citizens and residents to remain calm, seek shelter in safe places, and stay informed through official updates. The IRGC claimed responsibility for destroying a Patriot radar, a US Navy Fifth Fleet air control radar, and a C-RAM early warning radar system in Bahrain.

Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of its latest wave of strikes against Iran late Monday, targeting military sites along Iran's southern coastline in an effort "to further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping."
