Brussels: The Jordanian army announced on Saturday that it successfully intercepted four drones that had entered the country's airspace over the past 24 hours.

According to Anadolu Agency, there were no casualties or material damage reported as a result of the incidents, as confirmed by the state-run Petra News Agency. This development comes on the heels of another announcement by the Jordanian army, revealing that 10 ballistic missiles launched from Iran had been neutralized by Jordan's air defense systems earlier in the day. These missile attacks also resulted in no loss of life or material damage.

The region has been on edge since February when the US and Israel launched an offensive against Iran. In response, Tehran carried out missile and drone strikes targeting regional countries, including Jordan, which hosts US assets. Despite Iran and the US signing a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding last month, intended to cease hostilities and establish a lasting peace agreement, tensions have risen in recent days over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Both sides have engaged in a series of exchanges, further complicating the situation.
