Amman: Jordan's King Abdullah II has commenced a significant tour of Europe, with scheduled visits to Italy, the Vatican, Hungary, and Slovenia aimed at enhancing cooperation and discussing regional stability.

According to Anadolu Agency, a statement from the royal court detailed that King Abdullah's visit to Italy will include meetings with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Additionally, he will co-chair a new session of the Aqaba Meetings, an initiative started in 2015 to foster international collaboration in countering terrorism and extremism.

During his visit to the Vatican, King Abdullah is set to meet with Pope Leo XIV, marking their first meeting since the Pope's inauguration in May. The tour will continue in Budapest, where the King is scheduled to meet Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok, Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and members of the Hungarian parliament.

The final leg of the tour will take place in Slovenia, where King Abdullah will participate in the Med9 Summit of southern European countries, hosted in Ljubljana this year. He is noted as the only leader from outside southern Europe invited for the second consecutive year to attend this summit. In Ljubljana, further discussions are planned with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar and Prime Minister Robert Golob.

The royal court has not disclosed the duration of this tour, which follows King Abdullah's participation in the Gaza peace summit in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
