Moscow: The Kremlin has announced that there is currently no new information on potential discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made this statement during a news briefing, indicating that there are no new developments warranting public comment.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump, who has expressed a desire to negotiate a resolution to the ongoing Ukraine conflict, stated his intention to meet Putin "very quickly" after assuming office next week. Putin, for his part, has also expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with the incoming US president.

Addressing media speculation about possible indirect communication between US President Joe Biden and Putin since the conflict began, Peskov refuted these claims, asserting that there have been no political discussions between Moscow and Washington. He emphasized that existing communication channels are limited to technical interactions via military and diplomatic lines and do not involve any high-level or political dialogue.

Peskov also commented on the recent strengthening of ties between Armenia and the US, affirming Armenia's sovereign right to pursue relationships with other nations, while reiterating Russia's commitment to its bilateral relations with Armenia. He noted the historical role of the US in the South Caucasus, suggesting it has not been stabilizing.

Aside from bilateral relations, Peskov stressed the significance of Armenia's cooperation with Russia through initiatives like the Eurasian Economic Union, which offers substantial benefits to Armenia and its citizens. This comes as Armenia announced that its Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken are set to sign a strategic partnership document in Washington.

In response to inquiries about the upcoming visit of Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian to Russia on January 17, Peskov highlighted the anticipated signing of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Peseshkian and Putin. He noted that this agreement is a crucial aspect of Peseshkian's visit, with both leaders expected to address the media following their discussions.
