Beirut: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met on Saturday to discuss the ongoing US-hosted military talks with Israel, as reported by the Lebanese Presidency.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Lebanese delegation reiterated its commitment to prioritizing a ceasefire during these discussions, as stated by the presidency on US media platform X. Aoun and Salam also reviewed plans for the upcoming round of US-mediated negotiations with Israel, which are scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The presidency further mentioned that the meeting addressed the country's security situation and the ongoing monitoring of the conditions faced by individuals forcibly displaced from their homes and properties. On Friday, the Pentagon facilitated military delegations from both Israel and Lebanon in support of peace negotiations between the two countries.

Earlier this year, Beirut and Tel Aviv engaged in three direct negotiations rounds since mid-April. These meetings occur amidst continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon, despite a ceasefire that commenced on April 17 and was extended through early July following the talks.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, the Israeli offensives since March 2 have resulted in the deaths of over 3,350 people across the country.
