Beirut: At least 331 people have been killed and 945 injured by Israeli fire since a ceasefire agreement took effect in November 2024, the Lebanese Health Ministry said Friday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported more than 10,000 air and ground violations by Israel inside Lebanese territory since the ceasefire. UNIFIL noted that all violations were reported to the UN Security Council.
Tensions have been escalating in southern Lebanon for weeks, with the Israeli army conducting near-daily air raids inside Lebanese territory. These attacks allegedly target Hezbollah members and infrastructure.
The conflict has been ongoing since October 2023, when the Israeli army launched attacks on Lebanon. These attacks evolved into a full-scale offensive by September 2024, resulting in over 4,000 deaths and nearly 17,000 injuries in Lebanon.
Under the ceasefire terms, the Israeli army was required to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January. However, it has only partially withdrawn and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
