Lithuanian University Uncovers Plagiarism in Prime Minister’s Doctoral Thesis

Vilnius:A Lithuanian university has identified plagiarism and other academic integrity violations in the doctoral thesis of Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius. The Ethics Commission of ISM University of Management and Economics found issues related to academic writing, citations, and source attribution in the dissertation, which was defended by Sinkevicius in 2015.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the commission discovered instances of plagiarism and concluded that the thesis did not satisfy the requirement for independent doctoral research. Despite these findings, the university has not recommended the revocation of Sinkevicius’ doctoral degree but has instead given him six months to address the shortcomings.

The dissertation in question analyzed factors influencing alcohol consumption. Sinkevicius has denied allegations of plagiarism, maintaining that he wrote the thesis himself and complied with academic standards.
