According to Anadolu Agency, Prime Minister Abela's declaration follows similar announcements made by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and France, both of whom have also expressed intentions to recognize the state of Palestine. Abela had initially planned to make the recognition during a UN conference on Palestine in June, but the conference faced postponement.
