Ankara: Meta has unveiled a groundbreaking personal AI agent named Muse, which is designed to execute tasks on behalf of users rather than merely answering queries. This innovative tool can perform a wide range of functions including making purchases, booking travel, sending emails, filling out forms, and even negotiating for users.

According to Anadolu Agency, Muse is capable of developing personalized plans once assigned a task or broader goal, and can continue to operate independently, even after the user has closed the app. The AI agent is designed to re-engage when circumstances change or when it requires user approval, particularly for sensitive actions such as sending emails or making purchases.

Muse integrates Stripe's Link payment service to facilitate online purchases, ensuring users' payment details remain confidential by using a single-use virtual card for approved transactions. Additionally, Muse retains previously shared user information to make informed suggestions without additional prompting.

Operating through a Secure VM, Muse utilizes a dedicated virtual computer in the cloud, equipped with its own browser, allowing it to interact with various websites and connected services. A separate AI agent, Sentinel, oversees Muse's internet access and service connectivity, deciding whether actions should proceed, be blocked, or require user consent.

Users maintain control over which services Muse can access and the permissible actions within those services. Meta assures that Muse cannot access users' passwords or payment methods and provides a comprehensive audit trail of its activities. Furthermore, conversations and data within Muse's virtual machine are kept separate from Meta's advertising systems, and users have the option to opt out of using their interactions for AI model training.

The launch of Muse comes amidst growing scrutiny over the security and privacy implications of autonomous agents accessing personal accounts and data. Initially, Muse is available to users aged 18 and older in the United States via a dedicated app or WhatsApp, with upcoming support for Meta's AI glasses. The service is free for most uses, with subscription plans for more intensive usage priced at $20 and $100 per month.
