Bordeaux: More than 1,700 people were confined aboard a cruise ship in Bordeaux, southwestern France, after a passenger died and dozens of others developed symptoms linked to a suspected gastroenteritis outbreak.
According to Anadolu Agency, health authorities reported that around 50 passengers exhibited symptoms consistent with gastroenteritis. Tests are currently being conducted to determine whether norovirus is involved in the outbreak.
The ship, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, carries 1,233 passengers, primarily British and Irish nationals, along with 514 crew members. Authorities confirmed that a 90-year-old passenger passed away aboard the vessel, which had arrived in Bordeaux from Brest on Tuesday evening.
The cruise began its journey from the Shetland Islands in the UK on May 6, making stops in Belfast, Liverpool, and Brest before reaching Bordeaux. The vessel is scheduled to continue its journey to Spain following thorough health checks and investigations.
