Ankara: Foreign mission representatives of NATO member countries in Ankara have underscored the significance of "unity and solidarity" in preparation for the 2026 NATO Summit scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7-8.

According to Anadolu Agency, Italy's Ambassador to Ankara, Giuseppe Manzo, highlighted the critical timing of the summit for common security. He expressed gratitude for Turkey's leadership and affirmed Italy's commitment to collaborating for a successful summit that addresses all prevailing threats. Manzo mentioned the deployment of an Italian SAMP/T air defense system as part of Italy's contribution to Turkey's security.

The Netherlands' Ambassador to Ankara, Joep Wijnands, noted last year's summit in The Hague emphasized increasing financial obligations for collective defense. This year's focus will be on the allocation and use of the budget. He emphasized Turkey's significant contribution to NATO, given its strategic location and military capabilities, and reiterated that NATO's strength lies in unity.

Poland's Ambassador to Ankara, Maciej Lang, described the summit as an exceptional meeting of great importance for both Turkey and the alliance. He expressed gratitude for Turkey's efforts in hosting the summit and emphasized the reaffirmation of NATO's determination to act collectively amidst changing security conditions.

Bulgaria's Ambassador to Ankara, Anguel Tcholakov, stated that the summit presents a valuable opportunity to reaffirm unity among allies and demonstrate a commitment to fundamental principles, especially in times of increasing threats and challenges to the international order.

Latvia's Ambassador to Ankara, Bahtijors Hasans, highlighted the summit as a chance to show concrete fulfillment of commitments by allies. He noted Latvia's legal commitment to allocate at least 5% of its GDP to defense by 2027 and emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine, as it contributes to the security of the transatlantic area. Hasans stressed the need for predictable and sustainable support, asserting that NATO's unity is crucial.
