Munich: The NATO secretary general has urged European nations to contribute concrete proposals in potential peace talks concerning Ukraine rather than expressing grievances over their involvement. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Mark Rutte emphasized the importance of European countries ensuring Ukraine's optimal position during the negotiations.

According to Anadolu Agency, US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham highlighted NATO's enduring efficacy, noting no NATO nation has been invaded by a nation-state. He expressed regret over past policies towards Ukraine, advocating for a robust Ukrainian military to deter future invasions. Graham insisted on maximum support for Ukraine's army and learning from past mistakes of fearing to provoke Russian President Vladimir Putin.

US Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen echoed the call for increased military production among allies, emphasizing vigilance as NATO's adversaries closely monitor their actions. She also underscored the importance of keeping Ukraine's NATO membership on the table to avoid entering negotiations from a weak standpoint.

Shaheen stressed that Ukraine must receive defense support beyond its own capacities, whether through NATO membership or a multilateral force. Senator Graham supported Ukraine's potential NATO membership, suggesting that any future Russian military actions should automatically trigger such membership for Ukraine.

Senator Graham also mentioned a mineral proposal from the Trump administration, which could potentially grant the US a 50% stake in Ukraine's rare earth minerals. He described this proposal as a significant strategic move, framing Ukraine as beneficial rather than burdensome to US interests. NBC News reported that this proposal, if finalized, could pose challenges for Putin.
