Sanaa: New British Prime Minister Andy Burnham on Monday engaged in a phone call with US President Donald Trump shortly after assuming office, focusing on defense and security matters, including the strategic situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Anadolu Agency, the prime minister's office released a statement saying that Burnham expressed his hopes of showcasing what Manchester has to offer during a future visit by President Trump. The conversation marked an opportunity for Burnham to outline his vision as the new leader, emphasizing a commitment to "reindustrialization up and down the country to ensure good growth in every postcode."

Burnham highlighted his dedication to defense and security, stating that the security of the UK and its allies remains a top priority.
