Paris: The unemployment rate within the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area remained stable at a record low of 4.8% in February, as reported by the organization on Thursday. This rate was first achieved in March 2023 and has remained nearly unchanged since that time.

According to Anadolu Agency, unemployment rates in February were consistent in 22 OECD countries, decreased in seven, and increased in two. The European Union and the eurozone recorded their lowest unemployment rates at 5.7% and 6.1%, respectively.

In Canada, the unemployment rate remained largely stable at 6.7%, while the United States saw a rate of 4.2% in February. The total number of unemployed individuals across OECD countries experienced a slight decline, reaching 33.8 million.

Employment in the OECD area also remained stable at 70.2% in the last quarter of 2024, reflecting a steady labor market across member countries.
