Officer, Security Personnel Killed in Mosul Checkpoint Attack, Reports Iraq

Mosul: Iraq reported late Saturday that an officer and a security personnel member were killed in an attack targeting a security checkpoint in Mosul, northwestern Iraq. The Interior Ministry did not provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the incident, and responsibility for the attack has not been claimed by any group.

According to Anadolu Agency, several Iraqi provinces have recently experienced similar incidents amid ongoing hostilities in neighboring countries. The region remains on high alert following a joint offensive launched by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, resulting in over 1,340 casualties, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Tehran has executed multiple drone and missile strikes aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets. These retaliatory actions have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
