Muscat: Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi emphasized that "the door to diplomacy is still open" amidst ongoing US and Israeli strikes on Iran, urging a return to negotiations and cautioning against losing hope for peace.

According to Anadolu Agency, al-Busaidi made a statement on the US social media platform X, highlighting the progress made in Geneva towards a groundbreaking agreement between Iran and the United States. He underscored that the current conflict should not extinguish the prospects for peace.

Al-Busaidi reiterated the importance of diplomacy in resolving the conflict, asserting that war should not mean the end of peace efforts. He emphasized the urgency of resuming talks, stating that an earlier resumption would benefit all parties involved.

The joint attacks by Israel and the US on Iran began early Saturday, coinciding with ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington. Oman has been playing a mediating role in these discussions. This is not the first instance of such military action, as Israel and the US also conducted strikes against Iran in June 2025 during another round of negotiations facilitated by Oman.
