Khartoum: More than 1,400 individuals have been forced to flee their homes in the Al-Jamama area of Sudan's North Kordofan state due to escalating security threats following an attack attributed to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), as reported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

According to Anadolu Agency, the UN agency disclosed that its Displacement Tracking Matrix recorded the displacement of approximately 1,430 residents from Al-Jamama in the Sudri locality, situated to the west of Bara, on Wednesday. These displaced families have relocated to various locations within the Sudri locality and to areas in the neighboring Bara locality in North Kordofan.

The IOM highlighted the ongoing 'tense and highly fluid' security situation and confirmed its continuous monitoring of the developments. This update follows a report from the Sudan Doctors Network, a local medical group, which stated that nine civilians, including two women, were killed and 14 others injured during an RSF attack on Al-Jamama. The attack reportedly followed accusations against the residents of collaborating with the Sudanese army. The network also noted extensive looting of the local market, health center, and other civilian properties, which has significantly contributed to the displacement crisis.

The RSF has not provided any commentary regarding the accusations. The states of North, West, and South Kordofan have been experiencing persistent conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF since October 2025. Sudan has been embroiled in a conflict between the army and the RSF since April 2023, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of nearly 13 million people, based on estimates from the UN and international organizations.
