Tel aviv: More than 600 former Israeli security chiefs have made an urgent appeal to U.S. President Donald Trump to take action to end the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. This plea was conveyed through a letter sent by the signatories, which includes notable figures such as former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo, former Shin Bet chief Ami Ayalon, and former deputy Israeli army chief Matan Vilnai. They are calling for Trump to exert pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring an end to the conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, the letter was shared by the Commanders for Israel's Security (CIS) movement on X. The appeal stated, "Stop the Gaza War! On behalf of CIS, Israel's largest group of former IDF generals and Mossad, Shin Bet, Police, and Diplomatic Corps equivalents, we urge you to end the Gaza war." The letter also referenced Trump's previous intervention in Lebanon, suggesting that similar action should be taken in Gaza.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has continued its offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of over 60,800 Palestinians, the majority of whom are women and children. This military campaign has severely impacted the enclave, pushing it towards the brink of famine.

In a related development, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
