Ramallah: Israeli forces conducted military raids across the occupied West Bank, detaining 630 Palestinians in July, as part of their ongoing arrest campaigns since the onset of violence in Gaza. Women, children, and former prisoners were among those detained, according to a statement by the Palestinian Prisoner Society released Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian Prisoner Society reported that these recent arrests have increased the total number of Palestinians detained since the Gaza conflict began in October 2023 to over 25,000 individuals. The group highlighted that the arrest campaigns have been marked by increasing violations, including field interrogations, violent night home raids, systematic property destruction, assaults on detainees and their families, holding family members hostage, and stealing money and belongings.

The advocacy group further noted that the escalation of occupier attacks has broadened the scope of these arrests, particularly in areas targeted by illegal settlement expansions. In these regions, dozens of Palestinians were detained during attacks carried out by occupiers with the protection of the Israeli army.

Currently, about 9,500 Palestinian prisoners, including 92 women and 370 children, are held in Israeli prisons under severe conditions. Reports from Palestinian and Israeli rights organizations indicate that dozens have died due to starvation, torture, and medical neglect. Furthermore, the Unlawful Combatant Law, passed by Israel's Knesset in 2002, allows for Palestinians to be detained indefinitely without formal charges or sufficient evidence being presented, as reported by the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.
