Tehran: Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran to discuss the resumption of talks between the United States and Iran. The discussions took place amid efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and address regional developments.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Iranian official news agency IRNA reported that discussions between Pezeshkian and Naqvi also covered topics such as border trade and the recently signed memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US. However, additional details about the meeting were not disclosed.

A statement from the Pakistani Interior Ministry highlighted that Naqvi and Araghchi focused on bilateral relations and the regional situation following the signing of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding. Naqvi's visit to Tehran began earlier in the day, where he was welcomed by Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni.

A separate statement from Pakistan's Interior Ministry noted that the ministers viewed the US-Iran agreement as a constructive step towards achieving peace in the region. This agreement, known as the 'Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,' was electronically signed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Pezeshkian on Wednesday evening. It aims to end the conflict initiated by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran on February 28.

The US and Iran are scheduled to hold technical-level talks in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on Sunday as a continuation of the memorandum's signing, according to a Pakistani Foreign Ministry statement.
