Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Cyprus Abdallah Attari welcomed yesterday's UN General Assembly resolution "calling for an immediate end to the illegal Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, the West Bank and Gaza, including East Jerusalem, based on the recent relevant opinion of the International Court of Justice". In a statement Attari also welcomes the positive vote and support for the resolution from the vast majority of countries in the world, including the Republic of Cyprus. "We express our heartfelt thanks to the friendly government and the friendly people of the Republic of Cyprus and we hope that this resolution will be a harbinger for the end of all occupation throughout the world with joint struggles and mutual solidarity", he said. According to the statement, the majority of the International Community yesterday "said a great no to the Israeli occupation and a great yes to freedom, independence and justice in Palestine".
