Ramallah: Palestine warned Saturday that the continued escalation by the Israeli army and illegal occupiers in the West Bank town of Al-Mughayyir aim to isolate the area and displace its residents, calling for international action to end the violence.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement highlighting the ongoing 'suffocating siege' imposed by Israel on Al-Mughayyir, located northeast of Ramallah. The siege, in place for the past 20 days, has resulted in the sealing of entrance gates to the town, restricting residents' movement to merely two hours each day.

The ministry further detailed that the Israeli actions include prohibiting ambulance access amid 'indiscriminate targeting' of citizens. It warned that these measures are designed to militarily and economically isolate the town, potentially leading to the displacement of its residents.

The Foreign Ministry expressed concern that the escalating attacks by the army and occupiers are part of a broader strategy aimed at establishing a "reality of killing, terror, and forced displacement," thereby altering the situation on the ground. It warned that providing ongoing protection, weapons, and legal cover to illegal occupiers might trigger an uncontrollable escalation, urging immediate international intervention.

In its plea, the ministry called on the global community to transcend "mere verbal condemnation" and adopt 'deterrent political, legal, and economic measures.' It also highlighted the necessity for international protection for Palestinians and advocated for the activation of international jurisdiction to prosecute violators.

The ministry further urged the blocking of illegal settlement products from international markets and demanded accountability for entities supplying the occupiers with weapons, funding, or support. The occupied West Bank has been experiencing increased military raids and occupier attacks against Palestinians since the onset of the Gaza war in October 2023.

The situation escalated on Friday when three Palestinians were injured during an occupier attack in Al-Mughayyir. Additionally, army forces and illegal occupiers obstructed an ambulance that was on its way to assist the injured.
