Palestinian Committee and World Council of Churches Ink Cooperation Agreement

Geneva: The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the World Council of Churches to enhance cooperation and develop joint programs supporting Palestinians.

According to Anadolu Agency, the agreement was signed in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of committee head Ramzi Khoury, who led a Palestinian delegation to the council's headquarters. The memorandum aims to support initiatives based on justice, peace, and human dignity, while also strengthening the international presence of the Palestinian cause.

The Palestinian delegation engaged in discussions with World Council of Churches Secretary-General Jerry Pillay, focusing on expanding cooperation and increasing international efforts in support of Palestinians. The discussions emphasized the protection of the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

Additional meetings took place at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, near Geneva, where the delegation explored mechanisms to implement the memorandum and outlined steps to activate joint programs. This initiative is part of ongoing Palestinian efforts to forge international partnerships and amplify their voice in global forums, amid what they describe as rising Israeli violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
