Gaza: The Palestinian group Islamic Jihad announced on Monday that multiple Israeli soldiers were killed and injured during an ambush in southern Gaza. The incident reportedly took place when the group's armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigades, detonated a house rigged with explosives in eastern Khan Younis city on Saturday. This attack led to casualties among an Israeli foot patrol.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Al-Quds Brigades further stated that its fighters were engaged in clashes with Israeli reinforcements that responded to the scene. The confrontation involved the use of machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs). As of now, there has been no official comment from the Israeli army regarding this statement.

The situation in the Gaza Strip remains tense, with ongoing calls from the international community for a ceasefire. Since October 2023, the Israeli army's operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 56,500 Palestinians. The conflict has drawn significant international attention, with the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
