Ankara: The PKK/YPG terror group, operating under the label of the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), has imposed a ban on all public gatherings in the northeastern regions of Syria under its control. This measure comes just ahead of the anniversary commemorating the toppling of the Bashar al-Assad regime.

According to Anadolu Agency, the PKK/YPG has declared that no celebrations will be permitted on December 7-8, which marks the overthrow of the Baath regime. The group has cited 'security threats' as the reason behind these restrictions.

The directive from the PKK/YPG includes a prohibition on all forms of public events, social activities, and the use of fireworks in the predominantly Arab areas under its occupation. Despite these restrictions, thousands of people in Syrian cities such as Damascus, Daraa, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Idlib, and Aleppo continue to commemorate the first anniversary of Assad's fall.
