Fuzhou: A Hong Kong Airlines flight traveling from Hangzhou to Hong Kong made an emergency diversion on Thursday after a fire erupted inside the aircraft's cabin. The fire incident occurred in one of the plane's overhead compartments.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported that the aircraft safely landed in Fuzhou, located in China's Fujian province. The airline has stated that they are assisting passengers impacted by the incident.

Hong Kong Airlines confirmed that flight HX115, which initially departed from Hangzhou, diverted to Fuzhou Changle International Airport after the fire was successfully extinguished. Videos shared by passengers on social media platforms depict both crew members and passengers actively working to put out the fire.

Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have been triggered by a portable charger stored in the overhead compartments.
