Warsaw:The Polish Interior Ministry reported on Sunday that police had received information regarding a possible assassination attempt targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz.
According to Anadolu Agency, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski and Tomasz Siemoniak, who oversees intelligence services, have directed the initiation of actions concerning the matter. This was confirmed by Karolina Galecka, the Interior Ministry spokesperson, on the social media platform X.
Security service representatives conducted an emergency meeting, after which Jacek Dobrzynski, spokesperson for Siemoniak, indicated a 'high likelihood' of the threats being executed, as reported by broadcaster TVP World. Dobrzynski emphasized the severity with which they are treating the situation and noted that the threats were received via email. Police efforts are currently focused on identifying the sender. "Officers, particularly police, are now working on the case. I am confident they will get to the bottom of it," Dobrzynski stated.
Later in the day, Prime Minister Tusk announced on X that a man 'threatening an attack' had been detained. Prior to this, government spokesman Adam Szlapka informed Polsat News of the seriousness of the matter and confirmed that Tusk had been briefed on the threat on Sunday morning.
