Moscow:President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the need to enhance all components of Russia's digital security system. In a videoconference meeting with government officials, the details of which were published by the Kremlin, Putin highlighted the ongoing efforts to bolster Russia's sovereignty across various domains, including digital infrastructure.
According to Anadolu Agency, Putin noted that with the advancement of digitalization and amid ongoing external threats, both direct and hybrid, cyber threats to sectors like the economy, logistics, and public administration are escalating. To counter these threats, Putin advocated for improvements across the domestic digital security system and stressed the importance of coordination among law enforcement, special services, telecom operators, financial institutions, internet companies, and other relevant entities.
He also mentioned that the necessary components for this security enhancement include risk assessment, analysis mechanisms, monitoring dependency on external platforms, and tools for rapid response to potential cyberattacks. These comments were made following recent Ukrainian airstrikes targeting data centers of Russian companies Yandex and Sberbank.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified on Wednesday that the government meeting was not related to these specific attacks but was part of a broader, more systemic approach to digital security.
