Kyiv:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that Russia is likely to escalate its attacks on Ukraine as the US midterm elections draw near. Zelenskyy expressed these concerns during an interview with Spanish daily El Pais. According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin aims to demonstrate his resilience against Western sanctions and European pressure. He suggested that Putin's strategy includes intensifying hostilities to project strength globally, particularly targeting the United States as the elections approach. The Ukrainian president mentioned that he had cautioned US negotiators about the possibility of increased Russian aggression, especially against civilians, as a means to incite fear and encourage residents to flee Kyiv. Despite these threats, Zelenskyy asserted that the capital remains resolute. He highlighted that Russia continues to launch attacks around the clock, deploying hundreds of drones daily. Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's approach a s an attempt to destabilize Ukraine, prompting Kyiv to seek further financial support and adapt its military strategy. Additionally, Zelenskyy accused China and India of assisting Russia in evading sanctions by supplying machinery. He also alleged that Iran is providing Moscow with expertise and technology, particularly in drone warfare.
