Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed concerns that the potential delivery of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would severely damage relations between Moscow and Washington. In a statement made during an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, Putin emphasized that such a move would destroy any positive trends in the relationship between the two nations.
According to Anadolu Agency, during an address at the 22nd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi, Putin reiterated that delivering these missiles to Kyiv would not alter the battlefield dynamics. He further argued that using Tomahawk missiles without American military involvement was unfeasible and would escalate tensions to a new level, negatively impacting Russia-US ties.
The Kremlin has also indicated that Russia would respond appropriately to any transfer of Tomahawk missiles, which have a range of up to 2,500 kilometers (1,550 miles), to Ukraine by the United States. Last month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed he requested the missiles from US President Donald Trump during a meeting at the UN General Assembly session in New York.
In response to this request, US Vice President JD Vance stated that Washington is considering the proposal, with President Trump making the final decision on the matter.
