Qatar Emir and UAE President Discuss Key Regional Developments in Abu Dhabi

Abu dhabi: Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss significant regional and international developments, particularly focusing on the Middle East.

According to Anadolu Agency, the leaders exchanged views on current global and regional challenges and efforts aimed at advancing de-escalation. Both leaders emphasized the importance of continued coordination and highlighted the need to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic solutions to reinforce security and stability and support development across the region.

The discussions also included a review of the close ties between Qatar and the UAE, exploring ways to enhance cooperation for the benefit of both nations. Sheikh Tamim's visit to Abu Dhabi was noted as a 'fraternal' visit by Emirati and Qatari media, symbolizing the improving relations between the two countries following the January 2021 Al-Ula agreement. This agreement ended a prolonged diplomatic rift between Doha and several Gulf states that had lasted for more than three years.

In addition to Sheikh Tamim's visit, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed received similar 'fraternal' visits from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa earlier in the week.
