Trump Signals Support for Regime Change in Iran

Washington: US President Donald Trump has expressed support for the idea of regime change in Iran, stating that such a change "would be the best thing that could happen." Trump made these remarks to reporters during a visit to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, highlighting the prolonged discussions over Iran's actions and the human costs involved.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump criticized the ongoing diplomatic engagements with Iran, emphasizing the loss of lives and injuries suffered during this period. He indicated a desire for a more decisive approach, suggesting that the current situation has persisted for too long without resolution.

In other international developments, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has voiced concerns over the effectiveness of the UN Security Council. Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Kallas argued that the council is not functioning as intended, lacking mechanisms to enforce accountability and reflect contemporary global realities. She called for reforms to ensure that international law is upheld.

Meanwhile, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the successful completion of a mission to transfer more than 5,700 ISIS detainees from Syria to Iraq. The operation, which lasted 23 days, involved the relocation of detainees to ensure their security in Iraqi detention facilities.

These developments come as part of a broader context of geopolitical challenges and strategic realignments, with various international actors addressing issues ranging from security to economic cooperation.
