Qatar Intercepts 13 Missiles and 4 Drones Launched from Iran

Doha: Qatar announced on Thursday that its armed forces successfully intercepted the majority of missiles and drones launched from Iran, targeting the country without causing any casualties, as reported by the Defense Ministry. The interception occurred following an attack at approximately 11.51 am local time, involving 14 ballistic missiles and four drones.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Defense Ministry's statement confirmed that 13 of the ballistic missiles were intercepted by Qatar's armed forces, while the remaining missile landed in the country's territorial waters. Additionally, all four drones were intercepted, ensuring there were no human casualties from the incident.

The ministry emphasized that the 'Qatar Armed Forces possess full capabilities and resources to safeguard the country's sovereignty and territory and to respond firmly to any external threat.' In light of the attack, authorities urged citizens, residents, and visitors to maintain calm, adhere to official instructions from security authorities, avoid spreading rumors, and rely solely on information disseminated through official channels.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of missile and drone launches by Iran targeting Israel and Gulf countries housing U.S. military assets since February 28. Some attacks have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including ports and residential buildings. Tehran has stated that these attacks are in retaliation for a U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and high-ranking military officials.
