Doha: Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has appointed six new ministers in a significant cabinet reshuffle. This move marks a substantial change in the political landscape of the country. According to Anadolu Agency, the reshuffle includes the appointment of Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as a deputy prime minister and minister of state for defense affairs. A statement from the Amiri Diwan confirmed these appointments. Additionally, Lolwah Al-Khater, who has been serving as the minister of state for international cooperation, was appointed as the new education minister. The reshuffle also saw the introduction of new ministers for health, commerce, social development, and transport. This cabinet reshuffle follows a week after Qatari voters participated in a referendum on constitutional amendments. These amendments proposed replacing legislative elections for the Shura Council with appointed roles, indicating a shift in the governance approach within Qatar.
