London: Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed on Saturday that RAF fighter jets have been deployed to the Middle East to provide "contingency support across the region." The deployment comes amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, who have been exchanging missile fire in the area.

According to Anadolu Agency, the British aircraft are strategically positioned near the conflict zone. While speaking to reporters en route to the G7 summit in Canada, Starmer refrained from disclosing further specifics regarding London's involvement, citing the operational nature of the decisions and the evolving situation.

Starmer emphasized that the movement of assets, including jets, is part of the UK's efforts to offer contingency support across the region. He stated, "These are obviously operational decisions and the situation is ongoing and developing and therefore I'm not going to get into the precise details. But we are moving assets, we've already been moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support across the region. So that is happening."
