RSF Attack in Sudan’s North Kordofan Results in Over 25 Civilian Deaths

Umm Badr:Sudan An attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in the deaths of more than 25 civilians in the Umm Badr area of North Kordofan state, Sudan, as reported by the Sudan Doctors Network.

According to Anadolu Agency, the non-governmental organization highlighted in a statement that a video circulating online appears to show RSF members executing civilians. The statement further noted that the incident may have ethnic motivations, with victims accused of supporting the Sudanese army.

The Sudan Doctors Network condemned the executions as a severe violation of international humanitarian law and human rights standards. They expressed concerns that targeting individuals based on their ethnic or social affiliations could jeopardize social peace and incite hate speech and violence.

The organization called for the United Nations and other human rights groups to initiate an independent investigation and bring those responsible to justice. Meanwhile, the RSF has not commented on the statement, though they often claim not to target civilians‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬a position contested by both Sudanese authorities and international human rights organizations.

In recent developments, the Sudanese army has reclaimed significant areas in North Kordofan, including the strategic city of Bara, following battles with the RSF. They have secured 11 areas in the state, including Jabra al-Sheikh and Umm Siyala, and ensured control over the national road connecting Bara with Omdurman.

The Kordofan region, encompassing North, West, and South Kordofan, has been a hotspot for clashes between the army and the RSF since October of the previous year. This conflict, ongoing since 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced approximately 13 million people, based on estimates by the UN and international bodies.
