Kuala Lumpur:Moscow Russia's Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of an attack near a church in Jordan's southern Karak governorate that resulted in the deaths of at least nine individuals.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Russian ministry described the assault as a "cynical terrorist act" and emphasized that it was aimed at disrupting the interfaith peace and harmony prevalent in Jordanian society. The ministry also expressed solidarity with Jordan in its ongoing fight against terrorism and extremism and extended sincere condolences to the Jordanian leadership, the victims' families, and friends.

Jordan's Public Security Directorate reported that unidentified gunmen opened fire near Hamoud Church. In response, security forces are actively pursuing those responsible for the attack. In the wake of the incident, Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan announced a nationwide mourning period of three days, starting from Friday, October 23.
