Russia Dismisses Romania’s Accusations Over Brasov Fire and Black Sea Incidents

Brasov:Bucharest The Russian Embassy in Romania has dismissed allegations made by Romania regarding a fire that occurred in September at a facility in Brasov. The embassy labeled Romania's claims as "unsubstantiated accusations."

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Ambassador Vladimir Lipaev was summoned to the Romanian Foreign Ministry, where he firmly denied the allegations. He emphasized that Moscow had not planned, coordinated, or executed any acts of sabotage in Romania or elsewhere.

The Russian diplomatic mission criticized attempts to hold Russia accountable for incidents affecting Black Sea vessels, calling such actions "political cynicism and hypocrisy." The embassy's statement on Telegram accused Ukraine and its allies of posing threats to regional navigation safety, claiming Ukrainian forces had attacked over 250 commercial vessels linked to Russian economic interests, resulting in 28 sailor fatalities.

The statement further alleged that none of these vessels were transporting military goods, criticizing the lack of condemnation from Western nations, including Romania. The embassy suggested that Bucharest only voiced concerns when military shipments to Ukraine, routed via Black Sea ports, were obstructed.

Ambassador Lipaev urged Romania to acknowledge that threats to its security stem from adherence to policies dictated by NATO and the European Union, which he claimed were "out of touch with reality."

Romanian authorities previously reported uncovering a Russian-coordinated sabotage network linked to a fire on September 14 near defense manufacturer Carfil SA in Brasov. The investigation identified three suspects, including two Belarusian citizens and one Ukrainian, with two apprehended in Germany and a European arrest warrant issued for the third, located in Poland. Romanian Foreign Minister Dan Neculaescu described the incident as part of a broader campaign against European defense production.
