Kyiv:At least one person has been killed and six others injured following a series of Russian attacks on Ukraine, as reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy stated that a Russian drone had once again targeted the Pivnichnyi Bridge in Kyiv, marking the fourth consecutive day of attacks on key bridges in the capital. Additionally, Russian forces struck a medical supply warehouse in Sumy and a communications facility in Dnipro.
Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched 135 attack drones, including more than 50 jet-powered drones, targeting residential buildings and critical infrastructure across various regions including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Sumy, as well as Zaporizhzhia. These attacks have resulted in power outages in some communities, with local services actively responding to the impact sites.
He highlighted that this week alone, Russia has used over 1,900 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs, and 25 missiles against Ukraine, with more than 800 of these drones being jet-powered. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for accountability for this escalation.
In a related development, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Kyiv, with Zelenskyy expressing appreciation for Germany's consistent support. He mentioned ongoing preparations for important agreements between Ukraine and Germany aimed at enhancing defensive capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported its forces continued to target Ukrainian port infrastructure and maritime vessels allegedly aiding Ukrainian troops. A dry-cargo vessel carrying military supplies for the Ukrainian armed forces was reportedly hit by a drone at sea east of Odesa. Additionally, airstrikes were conducted on a UAV command post and temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk and Sumy regions. Russian air defenses claimed to intercept or destroy 559 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over various Russian regions, annexed Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.
