Istanbul: In a move aimed at normalizing relations between Washington and Moscow, a Russian delegation arrived at the US Consulate General residence in Istanbul to hold a meeting focused on the operations of their respective embassies.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Russian delegation reached the residence at 09.50 a.m. local time (0650 GMT). The meeting was confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkish Foreign Ministry sources on Wednesday. Lavrov stated that diplomats and high-level experts would address systemic issues resulting from past actions by the US administration that created obstacles for the Russian Embassy. In response, Russia also imposed similar conditions on the American Embassy in Moscow.
This meeting follows an earlier discussion between the two countries' delegations on February 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, centered on bilateral relations and ongoing efforts to resolve the over three-year-long conflict in Ukraine. Additionally, preparations are underway for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
