Tel aviv: Russia’s Embassy in Tel Aviv has issued a travel warning, advising its citizens against traveling to Israel due to the intensifying security situation in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the embassy released a statement highlighting the ‘escalating security situation in and around Israel’ as the primary reason for the advisory. Russian citizens were urged to avoid traveling to Israel ‘until the situation is clarified.’ The statement also provided guidance for Russian citizens currently in Israel, advising them to remain calm, vigilant, and to adhere strictly to the security measures outlined by Israeli authorities. They were further advised to stay close to designated safe areas and refrain from leaving unless instructed by local authorities.

The embassy emphasized the importance of staying informed through updates posted on its official website and social media channels, citing the ‘extreme instability’ of the military and political situation in the Middle East. It also confirmed that, as of 12 pm local time (0900GMT) on Monday, there was no information regarding any Russian citizens injured in the ongoing conflict.

The embassy assured that it is actively monitoring the situation and maintaining close communication with Israeli authorities.

Tensions in the region have been escalating since Sunday when Israel launched airstrikes on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, despite an existing ceasefire. This action prompted Iran to retaliate with missile strikes on northern Israel, which then led to further Israeli airstrikes on Iran. The current unrest follows a series of conflicts that began in late February when the US and Israel conducted airstrikes on Iran, leading to Iranian counterattacks on Israel and US assets in the region. Although a temporary ceasefire was agreed upon on April 8, negotiations have since stalled, causing further instability.
