Seoul: The families of the victims of the South Korean plane crash have filed a criminal complaint against 15 people, including high-ranking officials, local media reported Tuesday. On Dec. 29, some 179 out of a total 181 passengers onboard were killed when a Jeju Air jet from Bangkok erupted into flames after crashing into the localizer's concrete mound as it overshot the runway during an emergency belly landing at the Muan International Airport, about 290 kilometers south of Seoul. Only two passengers survived the accident.

According to Anadolu Agency, the victims' families filed a complaint against 15 individuals, including Jeju Air's CEO and Transport Minister Sangwoo Park, as reported by the Maeil Business Newspaper, citing their attorneys. The families have charged the individuals with homicide under the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and professional negligence, marking the first legal action taken in response to the tragic incident.
